I was organizing some old photos last night and came across the pictures we took the night we were officially engaged, two days before our engagement party. My then boyfriend had popped the question months before on a what most would call a disastrous weekend away after our Jeep broke down. We had to wait over three hours in a parking lot for the auto club to come save us then another hour for the battery to be replaced. We didn’t get upset about it; we made the best of it and still had a good time. That night with no plans to propose prior to the trip he popped the question. There was no ring; just the twinkle in his eye.

We went home excited about the future and over the next few weeks started looking at rings. We didn’t find the perfect one so we found a great local jeweler, picked out a setting and a stone and had one made. When my husband picked it up he kept it for a few days and planned out the perfect date.

We caught a taxi down to this little restaurant on Sydney Harbour and had a wonderful dinner while the sun was setting. After dinner we took a ferry across to Luna Park, walked around, rode the ferris wheel and got some ice cream. We walked out to the wharf; sat and enjoyed the view of the city while watching the boats cruise the harbour. Once there were a few people on the wharf he dropped to one knee, took out the ring and proposed. Just like him to want an audience!

I can’t believe that was just three years ago. We’ve had a child, moved countries, had another child and moved more times than we can count. He’s perfect for me and I wouldn’t change a thing.
