I was really excited a couple of days ago, I started the kids in a new daycare and all seemed well. It seemed as if they enjoyed it and besides being a little cranky from not getting a long enough nap all was well. I had an orthodontist appointment this morning and scheduled the kids into daycare and dropped them off. I was taken back when I picked them up. My daughters face was covered in what I thought was dirt, how could they not clean her face? They were made very well aware that she has allergies and skin issues and I would have thought it would click to wipe her face so she doesn’t get a rash.
I got her out to the car and realized it was a runny nose, great I thought she had managed to catch a cold. We get her home and I was cleaning her up, pushed her hair back and there is a big bruise and knot right on her hairline. Not only that her nose was bloody and had obviously been running because she had hurt her herself. I continued looking her over and she also has huge bruises on her legs.
It is not the fact that she fell that bothers me, its the fact that no one bothered to call me and no mention was made when I picked her up. She obviously hit her head pretty hard and that’s not something to take lightly. When I get my hand close to it she starts crying and saying she has an owie. I have the email address for the owner and I will be emailing her tonight about this; right now I am furious. Look at the picture, wouldn’t you be mad if you picked your child up looking like that.

Um yea I would be a little furious as well! I can’t believe no one said anything to you!! I hope she’s feeling a little better. Give her a hug & kiss from me & Lillie. Poor little thing!
I would have been pissed! I would have let them have it. Accidents happen but seriously how do you fall THAT bad!
I am in shock!! The fact that they didn’t even mention it to you. I don’t know if its a state thing, but here you have to sign a form stating that the daycare informed you even for a very small injury (my son stubbed his toe once and I signed one). I would check into it. Poor little thing, I hope she is ok!!
OMG! I would have been beyond pissed! Daycare normally calls me at least twice a week letting me know Brayden fell, or got bit, or something. I always have to sign incident reports…sometimes 2 in a day!
I hope you let the daycare have it! I hope your little girl’s owie doesn’t hurt for long. That picture just breaks my heart! Give her lots of kisses from all the moms in the blogging world!
I am so sorry for you and your little one. I would be fuming! I don’t have experience with the daycare thing but I do have kids so I can understand how upset you are. Just reading your post got me all fired up to shoot an email to them myself! I hope she recovers quickly. Like Dore, that pic of her makes me so sad. Poor thing! Let us know what happens. I will be anxious to hear!
I’d have someone’s head on a stick. Kiss that sweet little Georgie for Beth and me.
Oh my word, that is awful! I would have marched right back in there and…well, lets just say it wouldn’t have been pretty (ok, I would have been nice about it, but still!). That is just unacceptable, you do not overlook something like that! I can’t believe they didn’t call you or at least tell you when you picked her up! Wow. That really upsets me! I hope she feels better soon, poor little thing! That pic is just so sad, makes me want to cry. Like Dore said, give her lots of hugs and kisses from all the mommies =)
PS – Happy VGNO from Bubbles Featherbottom =)
I would be beyond mad. I’ll spare the long story and tell you that my sister picked up her son from daycare, I believe he was about 18 months. He was acting peculiar, cranky, on and on…….They get him to a doctor and start checking him based on symptoms: SKULL FRACTURE! To this day, we don’t know exactly what happened, but suspect he was allowed to climb up on her picnic table ( he loved to climb, had to watch him constantly, she was aware) and fell off onto the concrete slab under it.
Sorry! You just don’t know.
Happy VGNO! Sorry for the doom and gloom!
I picked my newborn son up from a church daycare center and got him home. I got him up in the middle of the night to feed him and his head was swollen. Skull fracture – and when I went back to the church’s pastor he investigated and no one – NO ONE – would admit anything. I would be F-*6#’-ING livid.
I’m so sorry to see this. Did you go to them and found out what happened. This looks more than a fall to me, and the daycare people should have explain what exactly happened. I don’t know about day cares in state but here in Canada I know even the home based day cares that can only take 5 to 7 kids have to pass lots of safety test.
I hope you took action, and find the source of the fall and bruises, if it happened once it can happen again with someone else. They should fix the problem and add staff if they can’t watch over a 3 year old.
Give us an update of her situation on another post I really want know how she is now.
Lots of hugs and kisses to both of you, I know she was in pain and how you felt.
