When I first heard about the Octuplet mom I assumed that she was a typical mother that had gone through IVF treatment. In my mind I pictured a woman desperate to have children, a Dr implanted too many enmryo’s, not her fault they all took. I defended this woman’s decision to choose what was right for her and not do selective reduction. Then the truth came out.

Now I am outraged that this woman was allowed to go through IVF treatment six times. She has no job and no way to support these kids. I have seen the before and after pictures of her plastic surgeries. She has had cheek implants, cologen injections, a nose job and her eyes done. Then there are the costs of six rounds of IVF. Who pays for this? My husband and I work hard for what we have, we do fairly well but there is no way we could ever afford four plastic surgeries and six rounds of IVF on what we make. How does someone who is unemployed do this?

I have refused to watch the stories on TV about her because I know they’ll just make me angry. I keep seeing what the media is forcing on us online. Today a top news story is that she went to have her nails done. Not really news worthy in my mind but it got me thinking. Before Georgie was born I had perfectly manicured nails and had them done every other week. After Georgie was born I rarely found the time to get them done. After Ethan came along they were gone for good. As a mom of two toddlers this is a luxury I can hardly find time for. As a mother of fourteen children with no job how can she find time for them or afford them? She would be spending minimum of $70 a month on her nails, wouldn’t this money be better spent buying food and necessities for her children?

Octo Mom needs to be saving every penny she is getting from her media freak show. Soon the camera’s will be gone and the money will stop coming in. She is not likable and with most angered over her actions I doubt she will be given her own TV show. I feel sorry for her parents who’s lives she has taken over and I feel sorry for her children, they did not ask for this nor do they deserve to be raised in these conditions.

When I decided to blog about her I went and read some articles to make sure I had my facts straight. In one interview she said that she is going to finish school and she will be able to work and provide for her children. Is she going to wait until all the children are in school? Does she have any clue about how much daycare for just the octuplets would cost? As a new college graduate I am sure that she would barely be making enough to pay for her child care expenses.

I have no problems with IVF and think its great that it gives many women who want to experience pregnancy and motherhood the opportunity. I have a serious issue with a single mother with no job being able to have IVF treatments while the state is left to pay their medical and food expenses. Octo mom’s actions were immature, selfish and those of someone who has no grasp on reality. As much as I would hate for her to get a TV show I fear that that is the best those fourteen children have at a good life.

She has now started a website that is purely one page asking for donations. We work to support our children, there is no way I would ever give my hard earned money to someone who knowingly put herself in this situation. She chose to have these children and they are already supported by taxpayers money. We work for what we have and she expects people to empty their pockets and give money to her? Given that she has had plastic surgery, IVF treatments and now being spotted getting her nails done she has proven that the money she receives is not going towards the needs of her children. Someones hard earned money they have donated might be what paid for her nails yesterday.
